Potter’s Guild plans sale
The Kenai Potter’s Guild will hold their annual Mother’s Day Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 12 in the Potter’s Studio, attached to the Kenai Fine Arts Center at 816 Cook St. in Old Town Kenai. Come and see the wonderful pottery available at very affordable prices.
Peeps art and photo exhibit seeks entries
The Peeps Art and Photo Exhibit is an opportunity for local children under the age of 18 to display their artwork and photography featuring birds of the Kenai Peninsula. This has become a local favorite and this year the exhibit will be held at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters on Ski Hill Road in Soldotna.
The Peeps Art & Photo Exhibit will be on display from May 18-May 25 and through the Kenai Birding Festival weekend. Folks are encouraged to visit the Refuge headquarters and take a peak. The Art Reception and Awards are at noon on May 19 at Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters, Soldotna.
Julie Zickefoose, a widely published natural history writer and artist, will recognize outstanding entries at the Artist’s Reception.
Deadline for art submission is Saturday, May 12.

The Triviapalooza team trvia contest, hosted by the Triumvirate Theatre and the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center, is May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. Teams of 6-8 people can enter to win $250 and the title of Master of Trivia. Registration is $15 per person for this community quiz bowl. Beer, and pizza will be available. Kenai River Festival booth applications available
The Kenai Watershed Forum is accepting applications from local artists and food vendors to reserve booth space at the Kenai River Festival on June 8, 9 and 10 at Soldotna Creek Park in downtown Soldotna. Kenai Historical Society seeks tour guides
The Kenai Historical Society is seeking volunteers to work as tour guides at the Historical Cabins in Old Town Kenai. Tour guides will work for several hours a during the summer months sharing local history with our “out of area” guests as well as the local community. For more information, call June at 283-1946.
Drama camp ready for stage
Triumvirate Theatre’s Soldotna Drama Camp will be held June 4-16 at Triumvirate Theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall. The camp will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and will teach everything from acting to set construction. The first twelve paid applicants will have the opportunity to receive free transportation to and from the camp, provided by C.A.R.T.S. Camp instructor is Shaylee Rizzo, and producer is Joe Rizzo. Sterling plans talent show
“Sterling Has Talent” will be held in September at the Sterling Senior Center. Application forms for auditions will be available in late April. Auditions will begin in June. Cash prizes will be awarded for youth (12 and under) and adult (over 12 years old) divisions. Each audition will be ope to the public for a $5 charge. The public will vote on the talent that will move forward to the semi-final and final competitions. No professionals can compete, only “raw” talent.
Kenai Saturday Market preparations now on

Museum of the North calls for artisans
The University of Alaska Museum of the North announces a call to artisans of the circumpolar North to apply for the 2012 Artisan Expo and Sale Oct. 12-13 at the museum. Artists of all mediums are invited to participate in this juried sale.
The two-day event will begin with a ticketed reception and sale and continue with an artisan sale that’s free and open to the public.
