Poem: 'Winter Warrior'

Winter Warrior

By Maggie Bray, Sterling

The goal that I sought was at the peak,

The pathway uphill exceedingly steep.

I kept trudging upward, though the pathway be blocked

By scattered foliage and rounded stray rocks.

I paused for a rest and to catch my breath,

To gain some momentum and further my quest.

Then onward I rose with my eyes towards the top.

I had to keep going and never stop.

When I finally reached it, I smiled with glee.

Nothing had stopped me, no nary a tree.

The prize that I sought was mine that day.

I’d made it to the top of my own driveway!
