Events and Exhibits
■ Peninsula Community Health Services is having an “Employee Art Show” in the Cottonwood Gallery, 2nd floor at 230 East Marydale in Soldotna, for the months of February and March. This will be a mixed media show with the employees of our agency submitting their own artwork for display. There will be an artist reception on Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
■ Join Kenai Peninsula College in celebrating the best photographic work from Alaska artists in 2012 at the Rarefied Light Exhibition in the Gary L. Freeburg Gallery. The exhibit will be on display through Feb. 6.
■ The Cottonwood Gallery on the second floor of the Peninsula Community Health Services building in Soldotna will hosts an exhibit of work by members of the Kenai Peninsula Photographers’ Guild. Work will be on display through January.
■ A three-person invitational, “Up and Coming,” is on display at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. The exhibit features the work of Joel Isaak, Ben Hastings and Claire Rowley and will be on display through Feb. 15.
■ The Peninsula Art Guild and the Kenai River Council on the Arts are offering a series of Mini Art Workshops throughout Janauary at the Kenai Fine Arts Center in Old Town Kenai. The center will be closed for the month of January except for announced events and workshops.
■ An all acoustic jam takes place at the Kenai Senior Center from 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursdays.
■ Veronica’s in Old Town Kenai has open mic Friday at 6:30 p.m. and live music with “Just We Two,” a delightful duo featuring Barb Anderson and Lee Johnson, Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
■ Odie’s Deli in Soldotna has live music Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Pub Quiz night every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
■ The Studio Espresso Shop at Spur Highway and Nikiski Avenue in Nikiski hosts an open mic night on Saturdays starting at 7 p.m. Call 776-7655.
■ St. Elias Brewing Company has live music Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m.
■ AMVETS Post 4 in the Red Diamond Center holds steel-tip darts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays; steak dinner from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday; and karaoke at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
■ The Bow bar in Kenai has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays and live music Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m.
■ Hooligans Saloon in Soldotna has poker Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 p.m. and live music Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
■ The Duck Inn on Kalifornsky Beach Road has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
