■ The 2nd annual Chefs of the Night special event will be held at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank on Saturday. The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank invites you to join them for a special night of incredible food from local chefs, beverages from Kassik’s Brewery and Bear Creek wine. Engage in conversation, live music, and fun. Black and white attire is optional. This special event will benefit the Food Bank. Tickets can be purchased at the Food Bank for $150. Events and Exhibits

■ Peninsula Community Health Services is having an “Employee Art Show” in the Cottonwood Gallery, 2nd floor at 230 East Marydale in Soldotna, for the months of February and March. This will be a mixed media show with the employees of the agency submitting their own artwork for display.

■ The Kenai Performers present “South Pacific,” directed by Teri Zopf-Schoessler March 1, 2, and 3 in the Renée C. Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School. Shows are 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $18 for general admission, $12 for seniors and students, and are available at Curtain Call Consignments in Kenai, River City Books in Soldotna, at the door and online at

■ Kenai Peninsula College will hold the following upcoming Arts and Lecture Series. The three events meet at 7:30 p.m. in room 109:

Feb. 28 — Bill Howell will sign and present on his book, “American craft beer phenomenon and its impact on Alaska.”

March 7 — Musica Borealis will begin with musicians from the north will playing chamber music together.


■ An all acoustic jam takes place every Thursday. The jam is as Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna on the first Thursday of the month, and at the Kenai Senior Center during the rest if the month. Jam starts at 6:30 p.m.

■ Veronica’s in Old Town Kenai has open mic Friday at 6:30 p.m. and live music with Kelsey Shields at 6:30 p.m.

■ Kenai Joe’s will have live music Friday starting at 9 p.m. This is a smoke-free show.

■ Odie’s Deli in Soldotna has live music Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Pub Quiz night every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

■ The Studio Espresso Shop at Spur Highway and Nikiski Avenue in Nikiski hosts an open mic night on Saturdays starting at 7 p.m. Call 776-7655.

■ St. Elias Brewing Company has live music Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m.

■ AMVETS Post 4 in the Red Diamond Center holds steel-tip darts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays; steak dinner from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday; and karaoke at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

■ The Bow bar in Kenai has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays and live music Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m.

■ Hooligans Saloon in Soldotna has poker Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 p.m. and live music Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

■ The Duck Inn on Kalifornsky Beach Road has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.

■ Mykel’s in Soldotna has live music Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. Robb Justice, and Fridays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. with Bob Ramponi and Dave Unruh.

■ Caribou Family Restaurant in Soldotna has live music by Wally Hyde 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays and 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays.

■ Main Street Tap and Grill has Wednesday karaoke with Mark Gage, Thursday acoustic music with Dave Boyle and Dustin Aaronson, and live music with 9Spine Friday and Saturday.
