■ The Kenai River Folk Dancers will host a contra dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at K-Beach Elementary School featuring live music with the ContraBand. All dances are taught and called to live music. Families, singles, and beginners are welcome. Bring non-marking shoes. Potluck snacks are optional. ■ Peninsula Community Health Services is having an “Employee Art Show” in the Cottonwood Gallery, 2nd floor at 230 East Marydale in Soldotna, for the months of February and March. This will be a mixed media show with the employees of the agency submitting their own artwork for display.
■ The Kenai Community Library will hold a poetry reading in conjunction with National Poetry Month on April 25. Community members of all ages are invited to recite a favorite poem or read an original. Space is limited and participants will be chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis. ■ Join Kenai Peninsula College in celebrating the work of one of Alaska’s most creative fiber/performance artists, Enzina Marrari. The exhibition of wearable art in the Gary L. Freeburg Gallery continues through April 5. A closing event in which the art will “come alive” and be performed for all in attendance will take place at 4:30 p.m. April 5. The gallery is open 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays.
■ An all acoustic jam takes place every Thursday. The jam is as Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna on the first Thursday of the month, and at the Kenai Senior Center during the rest if the month. Jam starts at 6:30 p.m.
■ Veronica’s in Old Town Kenai has open mic Friday at 6:30 p.m. and live music Saturday with The Crowshoes at 6:30 p.m.
■ Odie’s Deli in Soldotna has live music Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Pub Quiz night every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.
