Events and Exhibits

■ The Paint and Pen the Kenai community mural project is on display at the Kenai Visitor and Cultural Center. For more information call 283-1991.

■ “Small Shots,” with work contributed by local artists, is on display at the Kenai Fine Arts Center in Old Town Kenai.

■ Nikiski artist Jim Evenson’s exhibition of Abstract Stone Lithographs will be on display at Aurora Fine Art on 5th Avenue in Anchorage through May 31.

Entertainment

■ An all acoustic jam takes place every Thursday. The jam is as Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna on the first Thursday of the month, and at the Kenai Senior Center during the rest of the month. Jam starts at 6:30 p.m.

■ Veronica’s in Old Town Kenai has open mic Friday at 6:30 p.m. and live music Saturday with Robb Justice and Scot Q Merry at 6:30 p.m.

■ The Vagabond on Kalifornsky Beach Road will have Kansas City Blues, with Gary Sloan and Jim, on Friday and Saturday starting at 9:30 p.m.

■ The Que’Ana Bar in Clam Gulch at mile 122.5 Sterling Highway will have live music with Headwater on 7 p.m. Saturday.

■ Odie’s Deli in Soldotna has live music Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Pub Quiz night every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

■ The Studio Espresso Shop at Spur Highway and Nikiski Avenue in Nikiski hosts an open mic night on Saturdays starting at 7 p.m. Call 776-7655.

■ St. Elias Brewing Company has live music Thursdays from 7 to 9 p.m.

■ AMVETS Post 4 in the Red Diamond Center holds steel-tip darts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays; steak dinner from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday; and karaoke at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

■ The Bow bar in Kenai has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays and live music Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m.

■ Hooligans Saloon in Soldotna has poker Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 p.m. and live music Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

■ The Duck Inn on Kalifornsky Beach Road has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.

■ Mykel’s in Soldotna has live music Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. Robb Justice, and Fridays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. with Bob Ramponi and Dave Unruh.

■ Caribou Family Restaurant in Soldotna has live music by Wally Hyde 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays and 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays.

■ Main Street Tap and Grill has Wednesday karaoke with Mark Gage, Thursday acoustic music with Dave Boyle and Dustin Aaronson, and live music with 9Spine Friday and Saturday.

Markets, Fairs and Bazaars

■ Kenai’s Saturday Market is now accepting applications for its summer market that runs Saturdays through Sept. 14. The market is held at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center, 11471 Kenai Spur Highway each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 283-1991.

■ The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area is accepting applications from local food and craft vendors, school organizations, athletic organizations, local artists, churches, information and educational groups and any other interested parties to reserve booth space at the Family Fun in the Midnight Sun Event on June 15 at the NPRSA facilities in Nikiski. Interested vendors are encouraged to contact North Pen Rec early. The deadline to apply is May 31. Applications are available online at www.northpenrec.com or can be picked up at the Nikiski Pool or Nikiski Community Recreation Center. ■ Farmers Fresh Market will open to the public on Tuesdays, 3-6 p.m., starting June 4 and continuing into September. Farmers Fresh Market specializes in local produce and benefits the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. The market is located on Community College Drive in the Food Bank parking lot. For information, call Bonnie at 262-3111.

■ The Central Kenai Peninsula Farmer’s Market is seeking vendors for the 2013 season. The market that features Grown in Alaska and Made in Alaska products, will open on June 1 and run until September 28. Market hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday. Market is located at the corner of Corral Street and the Kenai Spur Highway at the bus “turn-around.” Call Carolyn at 262-7502 for more information.
