■ The Kenai Fine Arts Center will host an Artists Informal Get-together, an inter-media salon-style meeting and discussion for those interested in two-dimensional art, including photographers, watercolorists and painters to show their work at 6 p.m. Friday at the Kenai Fine Arts Center.

■ Kenai Fisher Poets 2013 will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. Featured poets include readings from Pat Dixon, Meezie Hermansen, Rich King, Steve Schoonmaker, Brent Johnson and more. On Sept. 28, A poetry writing workshop with celebrated Fisher Poet Pat Dixon and song writing workshop with Robb Justice will be held at noon at the Kenai Visitor and Cultural Center. Admission to each events is $10.

■ The 10th annual Homer International Documentary Film Festival will be held Sept. 26 through Oct. 3. A gala opening with an International Release of “Muscle Shoals” will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Homer Theatre. Other films include “20 feet from Stardom,” “Blackfish,” and a world premier of “The Old Believers,” the story of Homer’s Russian Community. A festival pass, which allows viewers to see all films, is $50 for adults and $40 for children and seniors.

■ The Kenai Peninsula Photographers Guild will have a photograph display through November at the Cottonwood Gallery, on the second floor of the Peninsula Community Health Services building at 230 East Marydale.

■ The Soldotna Animal Hospital will host an Alaskan themed photo exhibit featuring Tricia Joy Sadler in the upstairs gallery during September.

■ Marion Nelson’s art show of Encaustic (hot wax) and cold wax art works will be on display at Veronica’s Coffee House in Old Town Kenai through September.

■ Triumvirate Theatre will perform an original comedy play written by Joe Rizzo and directed by Jenny Neyman, Saturday as part of a fundraiser event. For more information contact Jenny Neyman by email at jennyneyman@gmail.com, or by phone at 907-394-6397.

■ Join Frontier Community Services and Kenai Senior Connection Inc. for “The Fatal Fifties Affiar,” an audience participation mystery dinner theater fundraiser, at the Kenai Senior Center Sept. 27 and 28. Doors open at 6 p.m.; dinner at 7 p.m.; show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person and available at Charlotte’s Restaurant in Kenai, River City Books in Soldotna, the Kenai Senior Center, and at the door. Come in your favorite 1950s costume; prizes will be awarded for the best 50s fan.

■ An all acoustic jam takes place every Thursday. The jam is as Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna on the first Thursday of the month, and at the Kenai Senior Center during the rest of the month. Jam starts at 6:30 p.m.

■ Veronica’s in Old Town Kenai has open mic Friday at 6:30 p.m. and live music with Kelsey Shields Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

■ Odie’s Deli in Soldotna has live music Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Pub Quiz night every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

■ The Studio Espresso Shop at Spur Highway and Nikiski Avenue in Nikiski hosts an open mic night on Saturdays starting at 7 p.m. Call 776-7655.

■ AMVETS Post 4 in the Red Diamond Center holds steel-tip darts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays; steak dinner from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday; and karaoke at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

■ The Bow bar in Kenai has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays and live music Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m.

n Tustumena Lodge will feature the music of The 907 Band Friday and Saturday 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. An open mic night will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 28 with a $100 prize for the best original song, admission is $10..

■ Hooligans Saloon in Soldotna has poker Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 p.m. and live music Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

■ The Duck Inn on Kalifornsky Beach Road has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.

■ Mykel’s in Soldotna has live music Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. Robb Justice, and Fridays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. with Bob Ramponi and Dave Unruh.

■ Caribou Family Restaurant in Soldotna has live music by Roy Mullin, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays and 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays.

■ Main Street Tap and Grill has Wednesday karaoke with KJ Natalia, Thursday acoustic music with Dustin and Friends and Keeley & Nelson, and live music and dancing with 9Spine Friday and Saturday.

n There will be an open mic family friendly event at 5 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Triumvirate Theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall. There will be a $100 prize for best original poem. Admission is $10.

■ Farmers Fresh Market is open to the public on Tuesdays, 3-6 p.m. into September. Farmers Fresh Market specializes in local produce and benefits the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. The market is located on Community College Drive in the Food Bank parking lot. For information, call Bonnie at 262-3111.

■ The Central Kenai Peninsula Farmer’s Market features Grown in Alaska and Made in Alaska products as well as baked goods, jams, jellies and holiday gifts, will close on September 28. Market hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Market is located at the corner of Corral Street and the Kenai Spur Highway at the bus “turn-around.” Call Carolyn at 262-7502 for more information.
