■ The Kenai Peninsula Orchestra’s annual Evening of Classics fundraising concert is Friday at 7 p.m. at Soldotna Christ Lutheran Church. Local performers such as Logan Boyle, Rodney French, Audra Faris, Jeanne Duhan, Steve Hileman, Tammy Vollom-Matturro, Maria Allison, Sue Biggs, Ariana Gabriel, Emily Grossman, Kent Peterson, and the Redoubt Chamber Orchestra will perform great music for your enjoyment. Emcee Marc Berezin will auction the baton for an audience member to conduct the orchestra in John Phillip Sousa’s March, The Stars and Stripes Forever. Events and Exhibits

■ Thirteen + One, an exhibition featuring the work of Richard Eissler, is on display the Gary Freeburg Gallery at Kenai Peninsula College’s Kenai River Campus. The gallery is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

■ On Friday at 6 p.m., the Kenai Fine Arts Center’s Every Friday event series presents the BBC Art Film and Open Discussion Series “Civilization: A Personal View by Kenneth Clark - The Skin of Our Teeth.” In this first of a multi-part series, famed British art historian Kenneth Clark looks at the six centuries following the collapse of the Roman Empire through the window of its art. Informal discussion following this 45 minute film. KFAC provides free refreshments.

■ The Peninsula Art Guild and the Kenai River Council on the Arts host two October Exhibitions: “22 Stories” by Kathy Matta in Gallery One and “Coming Around” by Robert Range in Gallery Too at the Kenai Fine Arts Center, 816 Cook Avenue in Old Town Kenai. ■ The Kenai Peninsula Photographers Guild will have a photograph display through November at the Cottonwood Gallery, on the second floor of the Peninsula Community Health Services building at 230 East Marydale.

■ Triumvirate Theatre is holding open auditions for roles in its musical rendition of Irving Berlin’s holiday classic “White Christmas.” Roles for adults and children alike. ■ An all acoustic jam takes place every Thursday. The jam is as Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna on the first Thursday of the month, and at the Kenai Senior Center during the rest of the month. Jam starts at 6:30 p.m.

■ Veronica’s in Old Town Kenai has open mic Friday at 6:30 p.m. and live music with Mike Morgan and Friends Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

■ Odie’s Deli in Soldotna has live music Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Pub Quiz night every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

■ The Vagabond on Kalifornsky Beach Road will have live music with 150 Grit Saturday at 9 p.m.

■ The Studio Espresso Shop at Spur Highway and Nikiski Avenue in Nikiski hosts an open mic night on Saturdays starting at 7 p.m. Call 776-7655.

■ AMVETS Post 4 in the Red Diamond Center holds steel-tip darts at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays; steak dinner from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday; and karaoke at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

■ The Bow bar in Kenai has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays and live music Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m.

■ Tustumena Lodge will feature the music of The 907 Band Friday and Saturday 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. An open mic night will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 28 with a $100 prize for the best original song, admission is $10.

■ Hooligans Saloon in Soldotna has poker Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 p.m. and live music Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

■ The Duck Inn on Kalifornsky Beach Road has karaoke at 9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.

■ Mykel’s in Soldotna has live music Thursdays from 6-9 p.m. Robb Justice, and Fridays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. with Bob Ramponi and Dave Unruh.

■ Caribou Family Restaurant in Soldotna has live music by Roy Mullin, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays and 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturdays.

■ Main Street Tap and Grill has Wednesday karaoke with KJ Natalia, Thursday acoustic music with Dustin and Friends and Keeley & Nelson, and live music and dancing with 9Spine Friday and Saturday.

■ There will be an open mic family friendly event at 5 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Triumvirate Theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall. There will be a $100 prize for best original poem. Admission is $10.
