Poet's Corner: Sheltered Freedom

Sheltered Freedom

By Sierra Steen

How can you expect to live through the pain

When everything’s lost and nothing to gain

I want back the life before innocence was lost

I’d buy back my soul, but what’s the cost?

How can one man bind anothers hands

And take away the freedom for which he stands

Is this really One Nation Under God

Or the truth of it all an elaborate facade

Man cannot give life, so don’t take it away

Whether its the breath of your lungs or
the words you can say

Only God can judge for the heart he can see

I’ll fight for the truth till the ay I’m free.
