Peninsula craft fair calendar filling up fast

It’s snowing somewhere in Alaska right now, which means it’s not too early to talk about holiday shopping.

The Kenai Peninsula is home to a wide selection of holiday craft bazaars to find the perfect gift for that special someone.

The Sterling Community Recreation Center is holding their fall craft and vendor fair on Oct. 28, starting at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in a booth should call the recreation center. Booths cost $45 for the day.

“It’s all kinds of homemade crafts and clothing, soaps, birch bowls — you name it, we’ll have it,” said Kelly Reilly, the Sterling Community Recreation Center’s facility coordinator.

Vendor spaces are still available and cost $45 for a ten by ten foot space.

“There’s plenty of room and there is not a bad booth in the space,” Reilly said.

Proceeds from the fair will go toward the center’s programs, such as the kid’s sports academy and senior pickle ball.

The Soldotna Senior Center’s Fall Bazaar Craft Sale and Art Show fundraiser will be held on Nov. 3 and 4 starting at 10 a.m. There will be everything from fiber art to homemade cookies for sale.

The Anchor Point Senior Center will also be holding their annual holiday bazaar on Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“We have over 47 vendor’s tables,” said Cindy Burns of the senior center. “It’s everything from art to homemade clothes to jewelry, everything. We even have ironwork, woodworking, local authors and artists. It’s a fundraiser for the senior center and usually our biggest one of the year.”

Ringing in the gift giving season, the Kenai Arts Guild Craft show is held from Nov. 24 to Nov. 26 at Kenai Central High School.
