Men's night is still going strong at Bird Homestead Golf Course. We had another great turnout Tuesday night with 21 guys showing up to play, no matter what the weather.

Roy Bird took the long drive on No. 3 and Justin Bird had a pure birdie on No. 1. Gary Rogers won the closest to on No. 6 and Jeff Gilman had the closest to on No. 8.

Saturday was the Bird Birthday Bash. Even with the rain we had a great turnout. Thank you to all the teams and people who participated. It started off not looking so great with the rain, but the showers stopped long enough for everyone to play their 18 holes and eat before it started again.

Amanda Bird was the big winner for the day as she won both of the closest to the pins on Nos. 6 and 8 and the ladies long drive. Trayton Bird was the long-drive champ for the men. Amanda Bird, Marty Radvansky and Susan Ellis came in first place, shooting 87.

We had a great week at Bird Homestead Golf Course. The week started off with the first Kenai Peninsula Builders Association "Golfing for Scholarships" tournament. The tournament was a great success.

They teed off at 9 a.m. Saturday morning with 14 teams playing a nine-hole scramble. The proceeds will be used for the KPBA scholarship fund. The first-place team of Pedro McCall, Eddie Sibolboro, Teresa Sibolboro and Beau Forrest came in shooting 9 under. Eddie donated half of the team's winnings back to the scholarship fund.

Bird Homestead Golf Course hosted the fifth annual Kenai Peninsula Food Bank Tournament sponsored by Stanley Chrysler on July 17 with a full house. The tournament was a great success. There were several people to thank during this great fundraising tournament, several businesses and hole sponsors, several volunteers and all those that participated.
