I would like to congratulate all the guys from Birch Ridge for winning the Walker Cup competition this year. They played excellent golf at the right time.

Most matches were close going into the final two holes. This is the most exciting competition all year. I would like to thank Pat and Myrna Cowan and Tom Walsh for being such gracious hosts.

Next week the Kenai Golf Course is set to defend the Walker Cup title at the Birch Ridge Golf Course. This competition is, perhaps, the best competition of the entire season. Last year's Kenai Walker Cup squad was comprised of the following golfers: Rene Alvarez, Tommy Carver, Rich Edwards, Todd Eskelin, Mark Griffin, Jeff Johns, Doug Jung, Derek Kaufman, Truckee LeMay, Chris Morin and Bob Sizemore. Gordon Griffin was the captain, and Ron Goecke and Kirk Hyman were co-captains.

The warm weather and a little sunshine are keeping our mowing crew hopping. The greens are really filling in nicely. We are looking forward to the next three months of the golf season. In the near future we will start working on new projects. We will continue to work on our new practice area, making it better each year.
