Kenai River Brown Bears players Sean Muller, Raymond Stenehjem and Bobby Murphy were playing for their hockey future Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the North American Hockey League Top Prospects Tournament in Troy, Mich.
Today, the trio rejoins their teammates as the Bears resume the fight for their future.
Kenai River continues the chase for a spot in the NAHL playoffs with a two-game series against the host Alaska Avalanche of Palmer. The games today and Saturday start at 7:30 p.m.

Wenatchee (Wash.) Wild forward Jacob Barber was brought in to be the difference in games like Friday night.

Barber, playing in his ninth game after being acquired from the Cedar Rapids (Iowa) RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League, scored twice to lead the Wild to a 3-1 victory over the Kenai River Brown Bears in North American Hockey League action at the Soldotna Sports Center.

"He's a goal scorer," said Wild coach John Becanic after Barber scored his third and fourth goals of the year for Wenatchee.

The Kenai River Brown Bears rebounded from a 2-1 loss to the Wenatchee (Wash.) Wild on Friday by defeating the Wild 2-1 on Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center in front of 747 fans.
The win was crucial as the Brown Bears battle for a spot in the North American Hockey League playoffs.
Kenai River improved to 23-18-2 with the victory, moving up to fourth place in the West Division.
The top four teams in the West make the playoffs. The Bears are one point ahead of Fresno (Calif.) for the final playoff spot. The Monsters have played one more game than the Brown Bears.

With no consolation bracket and no way to make it to state without making the finals, there’s a certain finality to the first two days of play at the North Star Conference tournament.

Both Kenai Central and Homer will face that finality tonight at the Soldotna Sports Center when the tournament gets under way.

Homer, the No. 6 seed, faces No. 3 seed Colony at 5 p.m. No. 5 Kenai faces off with No. 4 Wasilla at 7 p.m.
