Rain couldn’t deter an enthusiastic group of runners Saturday morning in downtown Soldotna, as 250 completed the Run for the River five-kilometer and 10-mile races.
As part of the Kenai River Festival, the event was hosted by the Kenai Watershed Forum, a nonprofit.
The men’s 10-miler saw the top two finishers break the hour mark. Rex Shields of Provo, Utah, won in 58 minutes, 32 seconds, while runner-up Derek Gibson of Soldotna finished in 59:42.
