Before getting down to much business Wednesday, Kenai’s city council celebrated its departing clerk.
“I now proclaim June 29, 2011 Carol Freas day,” said Kenai’s Vice-Mayor, Mike Boyle, who chaired the meeting in Mayor Pat Porter’s absence.
The audience gathered to celebrate Freas clapped and cheered at the announcement before adjourning for cake.
More than a dozen people turned out to share memories and thank the clerk for her service, including her daughter and grandchildren who live in Anchorage.
