Dedicated people are what makes community great

In the Clarion account of the Soldotna City Council meeting on April 10, Mr. Dixson is quoted as saying that he is “paid to make decisions for the benefit of the city, its residents and its employees.” Just how did his decision to fire Terri Burdick benefit the city or its residents, or its employees? I would still like to know the rationale behind this decision.

Mr. Dixson also commented that this is a great community. It certainly is — because of Terri Burdick and people like her.

Reason for librarian's dismissal needed

After nearly thirty years of dedicated service to this community, Terri Burdick was fired from her job at Soldotna Public Library for no discernible reason. At least, Mark Dixson, our new city manager, can’t seem to come up with one.

Thanks to 'Alaska angels'

I would like to thank four “Alaska angels” who helped me out of a predicament last Friday. I had gone off the road and my front tires were mired in deep snow. Three men and a woman stopped to help. They shoveled the tires out and with the aid of a pick-up and a tow rope, pulled me out. I’m so grateful for their help, because this old lady could never have done it alone.
