Kudos for Mr. Joe Ross at Nikiski; shoveling snow off the track at the Nikiski school was quite an undertaking. In my school days, way back when, the students who used the grounds would do some of the work.

I consider myself to be one of the Luckiest People to have worked, traveled and had a wonderful lady who has been with me in 57 years of these adventures.

In 2008, the price of Alaska crude oil was $144.00.  And going through my gas log in my car, my wife had a 25 year gas log on the motor home which went all over the United States and Canada. My highest price for a gallon of gas at this time, was $4.74 at Fred Meyers in Soldotna.

Now 2012, the price of Alaska Crude oil is $122.00, $22.00 dollars a barrel less,  and the price in Kenai today was $4.57.

I recently read this information about the Suicide rate among our Veterans. Unbelievable; Every "80" hrs, a veteran commits Suicide. Why? To be able to survive in the Muslim Nations, you need eyes on the front, side, and rear of your head. They proclaim they will kill all Infidels and all Christians in the world. What a wonderful thing for the human mind to try to accomplish. Yet we send billions of our dollars to try to appease them, which does not work except to bankrupt the U.S. of A. The argument is by all the donors is that we must save the world.

I know several people on the Peninsula who fully understand what "inflation" really is. If you were born in the 1920s or 30s, you were born in "zero" inflation. Nobody had any money; even the rich had very little. Through the 40s I worked mostly for $1.00 per hour, and after getting out of the Navy in 1955 went to work driving a gravel dump truck for a $1.00 and got another 25 cents when able to back up to the spreader and spread the gravel over the oiled surface.
