The Kenai Central boys baseball team lost a pair of games Saturday at the Kenai Little League Fields, while the Soldotna boys also lost a game.

The Kardinals lost to Wasilla 9-7 and lost to Colony 12-2 in a game that was stopped in the middle of the sixth due to the mercy rule. Kenai is 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the Northern Lights Conference. Soldotna lost 11-0 to Colony.

Kenai coach John Kennedy said it was a cold day for baseball, and his squad never warmed up until it was too late.

The Southcentral Sprint Championship Swim Meet was held May 4 at Kenai Central. The results follow:

The visiting Kenai Central baseball team topped Homer 12-10 on Thursday in Homer.

The Kards led 8-6 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but Homer scored a pair of runs to tie the game. In the top of the seventh, Kenai scored four times. Homer had two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but was not able to complete the comeback.

Tay Harling pitched the first 5 2-3 for the Kards. Miles Jones finished up for his fourth win of the year.

Dallas Pierren led Kenai on offense by going 2 for 5 with two RBIs.

The Homer softball team defeated Soldotna 8-0 in a Northern Lights Conference game at home on Wednesday to extend its winning streak to eight games.

The Mariners currently hold a season record of 10-2 overall and 5-0 in the NLC, while SoHi is 7-3 in the conference and 8-5 overall.

“It feels pretty good, we were just hitting well,” said Homer coach Bill Bell.

Hannah LaRue pitched the entire game for Homer, striking out six SoHi players.
