SoHi girls end season with a win

PALMER — The Soldotna Stars played tough defense and out-rebounded the Palmer Moose for the difficult Northern Lights Conference victory on the road, 43-32, on Friday. The win ends SoHi's regular season and leaves them with a 15-8 overall record, and 5-5 in the NLC.

Taylor Blake and Leya Depriest started the game off with easy buckets down low. That was all the easy offense that Kaillee Skjold and the Soldotna Stars defense would allow.

PALMER — It took a solid performance from all five Palmer seniors to hold off Cory Carver and the Soldotna Stars. Palmer capped its regular season with a 54-41 win over Soldotna on Friday night at Palmer High School.

Oilers' ABL title hopes take major hit

PALMER — After suffering a 5-3 loss on Wednesday, the Mat Su Miners had a polar opposite performance against the Peninsula Oilers on Thursday night.

The Miners hit everything the Oilers threw at them, sped around the bases and got yet another strong pitching performance from Andrew McGee.

The result — a 10-5 win over the Oilers that slimmed the Oilers’ chances of defending their ABL title. The Anchorage Glacier Pilots swept a doubleheader to improve to 22-11, while the Oilers dropped 3 1-2 games behind at 18-14. The Oilers have just eight games left to play.
