Refuge open for Christmas tree cutting

The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge is open for Christmas tree cutting. Trees are free for personal use, with a limit of one tree per household, no permit required. Trees may be taken anywhere on the refuge with hand tools, except within 150 feet of a road, lake, stream, trail, campground or picnic area. No tree cutting is permitted in the refuge headquarters area and along Ski Hill Road. The public is requested to trim the stumps as close top the ground as possible for aesthetic reasons. Church begins annual cookie sale

It's Christmas cookie planning time again for the Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ Church. Assorted Christmas cookies will be for sale by pre-order only. The cost is $5 per dozen. Orders of 50 dozen or more are $4 per dozen. Call Theresa at 262-4469, Lynn at 262-7519, or Diane at 262-1714 by Dec. 1 to place your cookie order.

Cookies will be ready for pick-up or delivery on Dec. 9. Orders have already started coming in, so call soon.
