Cynthia Anderson, far right, releases a bundle of balloons Thursday in memory of her daughter, Katarina, who died in an early June boating accident on Tustumena Lake. About 40 residents attended the balloon release in the parking lot of Kenai Central High School. The day marked Katarina’s 17th birthday. Cynthia told the audience, which included many students, that the last several months have been difficult. “We miss her very much,” she said.
