CASA looking for new quilt donations 

The Kenai Peninsula Court Appointed Special Advocates program, CASA, is seeking donations of new quilts of all sizes for an upcoming CASA Quilt Auction. Quilts will be displayed in several locations before the auction. Quilt submissions are requested no later than Sept. 25. Families invited to explore Nanoscale science

The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska is hosting a new engaging exhibition for family audiences about nanoscale science, technology and engineering (nano) Sept. 27 from 6-8 p.m. at 9711 Kenai Spur Hwy. Join them to imagine and discover the nanoscale world — a world so tiny it’s too small to see. This 400-square foot exhibition includes hands-on, interactive exhibits that invite exploration of nano phenomena and real world applications and implications.

What is the Sesquicentennial?

Sesquicentennial is a jawbreaker word, too big even for Scrabble, but it does have a noble ring to it. Its meaning is far simpler: 150th anniversary.
