Jessica Jane Oglesbee of Soldotna graduated Summa Cum Laude from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., in May 2012 with a degree in History and Fine Arts.

Hannah Bethany Pothast celebrated her Quinceañera on Oct. 20 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Soldotna. The evening Mass of Thanksgiving was presided over by Father Roger Bergkamp, OMI who was assisted by Altar Server Cody Quelland. Damas and Chambeláns (attendants) included Emily Boone, Taylor Gilmore, Sadie Fox, John-Mark Pothast, and Brian Dusek. A reception followed in O’Neill Hall where guests enjoyed a variety of birthday desserts.

The Quinceañera celebration is a Hispanic tradition that marks a young woman’s 15th birthday and is a time to offer thanks to God, renew the baptismal promise, and honor all those who have had an important impact in the life of the Quinceañera. Hannah’s honored guests included teachers, coaches, mentors, friends and family members who have encouraged and inspired her over the years. Special guests from out of state included maternal grandparents Dennis and Salli Sterrett and long-time family friends Chris and Mary Taylor Huntley who traveled from Arizona for the occasion.

Hannah is a freshman at Soldotna High School and her parents are John and Sheilah-Margaret Pothast of Soldotna.
