Star of the North plans Advent services


Star of the North Lutheran Church, 216 North Forest Drive in Kenai (next to Fireweed Nursery), Advent services have started. There will be two services available each Wednesday, at noon and at 6:30 p.m. On Dec. 12, in place of the regular evening service we will be caroling at Heritage Place in Soldotna. You are invited to join us for either the noon or the evening service as we journey through Advent together.

Soldotna Church of God 'cebrelates' Christmas

Join the Soldotna Church of God, on the corner of Redoubt and Binkley in Soldotna, at 6 p.m. Dec. 16 for a presentation of “The Watt Family Christmas,” a hilarious Christmas play about a hillbilly family that comes to “cebrelate” Christmas in the big city and ends up teaching the city slickers what the “true meaning of Christmas” really is.

'The Most Wonderful Life' at Apostolic Assembly

Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ Sunday School Department will present the play, “The Most Wonderful Life,” on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. This Christmas message will be performed by the children in story and song. Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall immediately following the play. Everyone is invited to attend this special service commemorating the birth of Jesus. In what is an annual tradition, the birth of Jesus will be celebrated on Dec. 19, at 7 p.m., as a birthday party for Jesus, with special music and the giving of gifts to the work of the Lord.

On Dec. 23, at 5:30 p.m., the AAJC Choir will present its annual cantata, “The Way He Came.” There will be more special music and a Christmas message concluding the service. All are welcome to attend these services celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. For questions, please call 260-4488.

Our Lady of the Angels celebrates Our Lady of Guadelupe

Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, in Kenai will be celebrating Our Lady of Guadelupe on Sunday. A traditional Spanish Mass will take place at 6:30 p.m., with a traditional meal and festivities to follow Mass downstairs in the church hall. Father Tom Rush, OMI, will be presiding. 

'Spelling Bee' at Soldotna Bible Chapel

The Soldotna Bible Chapel Student Choir will be presenting “The Christmas County Spelling Bee” program on Dec. 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the Soldotna Bible Chapel at 300 W. Marydale. All ages will enjoy this fun musical focusing on the Name above all names – Jesus!

Sterling church plans Christmas programs

The Sterling United Pentecostal Church will present a Christmas program, “Joy to the World” on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. Cookies and coffee will follow the Thursday program and a potluck will be shared after the Sunday morning presentation. Financial Peace University classes offered

The Sterling United Pentecostal Church will present Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. Classes begin Jan. 3 and run through Feb. 28. The sessions are scheduled for 7 p.m. each Thursday. Christmas for kids at Grace Lutheran

Grace Lutheran Church and School will host “Christmas for Kids,” a program to share the real meaning of Christmas, from 9 a.m. to noon on Dec. 15 at the church off K-Beach Road, one block down on Ciechanski Road. Kids ages 3 years old to sixth grade may attend. There will be Bible teaching, singing, arts and crafts, games, and cookie decorating and a 15-minute “Christmas by the Kids” concert for the parents at 11:45 a.m. Drop off the kids and get your Chrismas shopping done!
