Apostolic Assembly presents cantata

On Dec. 23, at 5:30 p.m., the Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ Choir will present its annual cantata, “The Way He Came.” There will be more special music and a Christmas message concluding the service. 'Changed by a Baby Boy' at Soldotna Bible Chapel

The Soldotna Bible Chapel Adult Choir will be performing “Changed by a Baby Boy” on Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. Soldotna Bible Chapel is located at 300 W. Marydale in Soldotna.

Star of the North plans Advent services

Star of the North Lutheran Church, 216 North Forest Drive in Kenai, will be having a candlelight service at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Financial Peace University classes offered

The Sterling United Pentecostal Church will present Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. The seminar begins Jan. 3 and runs through Feb. 28. The sessions are scheduled for 7 p.m. each Thursday. The cost for the seminar membership kit (one per family) including the workbook and other resource materials is $89. According to Dave Ramsey, the seminar “Changes everything. Your money. Your story. Clothes Quarters open weekly

Clothes Quarters at Our Lady of the Angels Church is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 283-4555.

Food pantry opens at Soldotna church

The Soldotna United Methodist Church, at 158 South Binkley Street, now offers a Food Pantry for citizens in the community who are experiencing food shortages. The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 11a.m.-2 p.m. for anyone in the area who may need extra help. 

To support these efforts, the church is accepting non-perishable food donations, which may be dropped off at the church any Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. or Sunday from 9 a.m.-noon. To make monetary donations, mail a check to the address above designating it for the SUMC Food Pantry or drop it by. Kids' activities at Grace Brethren Church

■ Kids Wednesday Night Discipleship is Wedensdays from 6:30-8 p.m. at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church, mile 19.5 Kalifornsky Beach Road, open to kids ages birth to fifth grade. Free, no preregistration required. For more information, call 907-262-6442.

■ Kid Zone is held every Tuesday that there is school at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church for kids ages birth to preschool and a parent/guardian from 10:30-11:30 a.m. with indoor slides and lots of toys! Free!

Soldotna Day Aglow to meet

Soldotna Day Aglow will meet every Wednesday at Peninsula Christian Center located in Soldotna. There will be coffee and fellowship at 9:30 a.m., followed by 10 a.m. worship, teaching and prayer. Babysitting provided. Contact Judy Risung at 283-3534.

Catholicism classes available

Classes for anyone interested in the Catholic Church will be held each Wednesday evening at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The classes are held in O’Neill Hall on Redoubt Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Those attending will learn about the teachings of the Church based on the teachings of Jesus Christ to His disciples. This process is called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA. For more information call Shirley at 262-9654 or Marlys at 262-5542.

Good News Clubs forming

Child Evangelism Fellowship offers Good News Clubs at Aurora Borealis Charter School, Mountain View Elementary, Soldotna Elementary, K-Beach Elementary and the Merit Inn. Children are taught values and character qualities through Bible lessons, games, and songs. Snacks and prizes will be provided. All volunteer and staff leaders are screened for child protection. Parents are welcome to attend and are responsible for transportation following the clubs. Permission slips are available in all schools.
