Chance Percival and Renee Barngrover of Kenai announce the birth of their son, Chance Lawrence Percival Jr., in a surprise delivery at home at 12:46 a.m. Dec. 28, 2012. He weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 19.5 inches. He joins siblings Hannah Gage, Lyna Percival, Cailee Percival, and Allen Feik. His grandparents are Paul and Tonya Robinson, and Annette and Buddy Barngrover.

 

The Soldotna Elks Scholarship Committee has completed the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student judging for the Greater Soldotna area. The committee was very impressed with the nineteen outstanding students who put forth applications.

There are truly outstanding students in our schools as evidenced by each application the committee reviewed and all of those who submitted applications are worthy of congratulations.

The Soldotna Elks Lodge 2706 will be rewarding our local students with the following scholarships:

1. Johnathon Krieder, $1500; 2. Shara Leaders, $1500; 3. Jang Kim, $1250; 4. Diana Hunter, $1250; 5. John Brown, $1000; 6. Denali Goodwill, $1000.

Additionally, the applications of Johnathon Krieder, Shara Leaders, Jang Kin, and Diana Hunter will be passed on to the State level competition for additional scholarship consideration. Congratulations to all the above students! They have extremely bright futures.
