Peninsula Christian Center, 161 Farnsworth Boulevard in Soldotna (behind Salvation Army), is proud to announce the arrival of their new pastor, Rev. Jon Watson. There will be a Pastor Installation ceremony on Sunday, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a potluck dinner. Alaska Network Superintendent Bill Welch will be leading this special service.

Pastor Jon and his wife Teri have two children. Joshua serves in the USAF in the Security forces at JBER and their daughter Erin is a senior in High School. She has won an athletic and academic scholarship to Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas where she begins school in the fall.

We at Peninsula Christian Center would like to invite you, to come meet our new pastor and join us for worship. We have a class and a place for everyone. Sunday morning service times are 8:30 and 10:30, and our midweek service is at 6:30 p.m. and to better serve you, we offer a meal at 6:00 p.m.

Alaska Walk to Emmaus is holding a fundraiser dinner/talent show/silent auction on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Soldotna High School. Please join us for dinner and an evening of fun entertainment, including Robert Service poetry, skits, songs, bluegrass music and more! Tickets are $10 per person or $25 per family (kids under 5 are free). Each paid dinner ($10 or $25) will receive an entry ticket for the grand prize: A trip for two on the Danny J to Halibut Cove and a $50 gift certificate for dinner at the Saltry. Proceeds will support participant scholarships for our upcoming retreat in March. Walk to Emmaus is an ecumenical organization that encourages participants to find ways to live out their individual call to discipleship in their homes, churches, and community.

The Way Café Bible Study (next to the Merit Inn in Kenai) is under way from noon to 2 p.m. Thursdays. Come for lunch and take part in Beth Moore’s six-week study, “The Law of Love, Lessons from Deuteronomy.” For more information, call Carole at 283-7772.

Soldotna Day Aglow will meet every Wednesday at Peninsula Christian Center located in Soldotna. There will be coffee and fellowship at 9:30 a.m. followed by 10 a.m. worship, teaching and prayer. We will be watching a DVD series by Beth Moore called Law of Love. Babysitting provided. For more information contact Judy Risung at 283-3534.

Clothes Quarters at Our Lady of the Angels Church is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 283-4555.

The Soldotna United Methodist Church, at 158 South Binkley Street, offers a Food Pantry for residents in the community who are experiencing food shortages. The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 11a.m.-2 p.m. for anyone in the area who may need extra help. 

To support these efforts, the church is accepting non-perishable food donations, which may be dropped off at the church any Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. or Sunday from 9 a.m.-noon. To make onetary donations, mail a check to the address above designating it for the SUMC Food Pantry or drop it by.

Child Evangelism Fellowship offers Good News Clubs at Aurora Borealis Charter School, Mountain View Elementary, Soldotna Elementary, K-Beach Elementary and the Merit Inn. Children are taught values and character qualities through Bible lessons, games, and songs. Snacks and prizes will be provided. All volunteer and staff leaders are screened for child protection. Parents are welcome to attend and are responsible for transportation following the clubs. Permission slips are available in all schools. Calvary Baptist Church in Kenai has started its 2012-13 AWANA year with programs on Sundays at Kenai Middle School, from 5:25-7:15 p.m. Classes available for kids age 3 through grade 6. Please use back entrance. Call 283-4781 for more info.

■ Kids Wednesday Night Discipleship is Wedensdays from 6:30-8 p.m. at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church, mile 19.5 Kalifornsky Beach Road, open to kids ages birth to fifth grade. Free, no preregistration required. For more information, call 907-262-6442.

■ Kid Zone is held every Tuesday that there is school at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church for kids ages birth to preschool and a parent/guardian from 10:30-11:30 a.m. with indoor slides and lots of toys! Free!
