The City of Soldotna is now accepting new applications for the 2013 Storefront Improvement Program. Business owners or lessees can apply for a 50-50 matching grant, up to $5,000, to improve the exterior of their business. Homer Electric Association is accepting nominations from members for a seats on its nine-member Board of Directors.
Three seats across the board’s three districts are up for grabs in this year’s election — one from District 1, which covers Kenai, Nikiski and parts of Soldotna, District 2, which covers Soldotna, Sterling, Kasilof and in District 3, which covers Kasilof, Homer, and Seldovia.
HEA directors are elected by district, with members voting only for the director in their respective district. Those interested in running must complete a candidacy packet that requires 15 signatures gathered from HEA members in the candidate’s district. That packet is available at HEA offices or online at www.homerelectric.com.
The deadline to submit a packet to one of HEA’s offices in Homer or Kenai is 5 p.m., March 1. Ballots will be mailed April 1 and the results will be announced at the utility’s annual meeting at Kenai Central High School on May 1.
