Masters swimmers make a splash

Twelve local master swimmers from Top of The World Swimming team (TOWS) combined efforts to place second at 2013 Alaska Masters Short Course Yards State Championships at the Bartlett Pool in Anchorage. TOWS, a workout group at the Skyview Pool, scored 527 points edging out the Buckner Masters Swim Team from Elmendorf by 9 points. Individual high point age-group winners included: Danny McIntosh, 18-24 years old; Stephanie Musgrove, 25-29; Cory Lehl, 30-34; Sean O’Reilly, 40-44; Joanne Wainwright, 55-59; Jeff Woods, 60-64; and Susan Ellis, 65-69.

Also contributing points to the team score were Angie Brennan, Judy Abrahams, Johna Beech, Sarah Williams and John Pfeifer.

Nearly 100 master swimmers from around Alaska, ages 19 to 83, traveled to Anchorage for this annual event. For more information about Masters Swimming, contact Joanne Wainwright at 262-5308.
