Trustworthy Hardware, located in Soldotna, has been given the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Recreational Boating Safety Visitation Program Award for 2012. This certificate of Appreciation has been given to Paul Miller (not pictured) and his son Brian who have done an excellent job in helping the Kenai Coast Guard Auxiliary promote boating safety. The boating safety display, with its safety brochures, has been placed in the boating section of the store in a conspicuous place, so that boaters can easily find and obtain safety brochures related to boating. Trustworthy Hardware has an ample stock, and good variety of marine safety items required for boats in Alaskan and Coastal waters.
Paul, Brian and their staff are commended for their efforts promoting boating safety.
Also for the year 2012 Kenai’s Wal-Mart, specifically the Sporting Goods Department, was awarded The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Recreational Boating Safety Visitiation Program Award. This Certificate of Appreciation was given to Ferdinand Dominic, the manager, and the assistant manager, Todd Streiff, for their outstanding performance with helping to disseminate boating safety information to the public throughout the year. They also allowed the Kenai Coast Guard Auxiliary to set up Vessel Safety Check Stations at Wal-Mart in the Spring for boaters. This helped boaters so that they could have their boats checked for free, to see if they had the required safety equipment before they put their boat in the water. Wal-Mart further encouraged awareness of boating safety by offering sales on some safety items during this Vessel Safety Check Event. Kenai’s Wal-Mart and the management and staff of the Sporting Goods Department are commended for their efforts for helping the public to be safer while boating.
