Chambers set schedules

■ The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will host an appreciation breakfast for chamber members from 8-9:30 a.m. on May 30 at the Soldotna Sports Center. RSVP by May 24. For more information call 262-9814.

■ The Kenai Chamber of Commerce next meets meets May 29 at noon at the Kenai Visitor Center. A presentation on the opening of Charis Place, an assisted Living Facility in Kenai, with owner Clint Hall and administrator Colleen McNulty is scheduled. RSVP is required. ■ The Soldotna and Kenai Chambers of Commerce will host a joint luncheon Tuesday at noon at the Soldotna Sports Center, with a presentation from Gov. Sean Parnell. RSVP to 262-9814 or 283-7989.

Booth applications available for Family Fun event

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area is accepting applications from local food and craft vendors, school organizations, athletic organizations, local artists, churches, information and educational groups and any other interested parties to reserve booth space at the Family Fun in the Midnight Sun Event on June 15 at the NPRSA facilities in Nikiski. Interested vendors are encouraged to contact North Pen Rec early. The deadline to apply is May 31. Applications are available online at www.northpenrec.com or can be picked up at the Nikiski Pool or Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Soldotna storefront improvement grants available

The City of Soldotna is now accepting new applications for the 2013 Storefront Improvement Program. Business owners or lessees can apply for a 50-50 matching grant, up to $5,000, to improve the exterior of their business. This year the city is expanding the program so that it is open to all businesses in the Commercial or Limited Commercial zoning districts.

QuickBooks training offered

The Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District is now offering hands-on QuickBooks training. Topics covered in training sessions include manging bank accounts; invoicing customers; paying bills, processing payroll; reconciling accounts; monitoring profitability; and creating financial reports. Classes are three days during the third week of each month from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Kenai Peninsula Job Center in Kenai. The fee is $350. The next scheduled session is June 19-21.
