Soldotna Church grills up fellowship


The Church of Christ in Soldotna invites everyone to join them for free hamburgers and hotdogs on June 19 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Also being served are baked beans, chips and dessert. All who come are welcome to attend a Bible study following the meal at 7:00 p.m. The church is located at Mile 91.7 Sterling Highway. For more information or if you need a ride call 907-252-9931.

Music ministry to visit Kenai

An evening of praise and worship with Gospel singers Dave Anderson and Roger Walck is planned for 7 p.m. July 10 at Star of the North Lutheran Church, 216 N. Forest Drive in Kenai. The performance will include Gospel music, old-time Sunday school songs, contemporary Christian music and stories of God’s grace and mercy. For more information call 907-262-6121.

Vacation Bible Schools

■ Kenai Christian Church at 104 McKinley Street, Kenai will host a SonWest Roundup VBS, July 8-12, 5:30 – 8 p.m. for ages 2 years – 6th grade. Call 907-283-4559.

■ Ninilchik Community Vacation Bible School will be held at the Lindeman Ranch from July 7-11 (Sun-Thurs.) for ages 4 through 8th grade. Sunday: 12:30-4 p.m. Mon-Thurs: 9:30-12:30 p.m. Free. ■ The Kenai Fellowship will host a Hay Day Vacation Bible School for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. It kicks off June 26 with food and fellowship from 6:30-8 p.m. It continues June 27-28 from 9 a.m.-noon (8:30 a.m. drop-off available). It wraps up June 29 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. with a petting zoo, more VBS fun and a hot dog roast. The church is located at Mile 8.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway, between Swires Road and Highbush Road. Bible teaching, fellowship meeting planned

A teaching and fellowship meeting will take place every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. approximately 4 miles down Funny River Road, call 907-262-9808 for directions. Learn how to read and understand the Bible. Topics include what parts of the Bible are written for your understanding and what is written directly to you; how to receive and believe — a person can never rise above more than what they have been taught; what is the love of God, how do you love; who are the gospels written to; and how to understand the 7 epistles, Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians. These are power packed teachings that enable you to live a more than abundant life by getting rid of sin consciousness, guilt, and mainly fear. These are taught in the home and kept small for a better personal learning. Those who want to learn are welcome.

Clothes Quarters open weekly

Clothes Quarters at Our Lady of the Angels Church is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 283-4555.

Food pantry open at Soldotna church

The Soldotna United Methodist Church, at 158 South Binkley Street, offers a Food Pantry for residents in the community who are experiencing food shortages. The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 11a.m.-2 p.m. for anyone in the area who may need extra help. 

To support these efforts, the church is accepting non-perishable food donations, which may be dropped off at the church any Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. or Sunday from 9 a.m.-noon. To make monetary donations, mail a check to the address above designating it for the SUMC Food Pantry or drop it by.
