Two students from Soldotna received their degrees from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., during graduation exercises held on May 12 in Spokane’s Veterans’ Memorial Arena.
Rosemary Houglum of Soldotna graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Special Education. Houglum also earned placement on the Gonzaga President’s List for the spring semester, earning a GPA of 3.7 to 4.0.
Edward Lee of Soldotna graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Garrett James Byerley of Soldotna graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill., during commencement ceremonies on May 18. Byerly earned his Bachelor of Science degree.
Air Force Airman Larissa B. Godfrey graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Godfrey is the daughter of Karen Godfrey of Kenai. She is a 2011 graduate of Nikiski Middle-High School.
Two peninsula students were named to the spring 2013 Dean’s List at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
Lela Walker of Clam Gulch, and Trisha Trujillo of Soldotna received the honor.
Full-time students who rank in the top 10 percent of their class for the semester and earn a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale are eligible for the Dean’s List.
