The Way Café still open

The Way Café, located at the Merrit Inn, 260 South Willow Street in Kenai, will continue serving free meals to youth 18 and under from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals for adults are $3. For more information, call 907-283-7672.

Peninsula Christian plans Kids Crusade

A Kids Crusade will be held at Peninsula Christian Center, located at Cohoe and Farnsworth Blvd., behind the Salvation Army in Soldotna, Sunday through Wednesday. Sunday evening service is at 6:00 p.m. Monday-Wednesday is 6:30 p.m. It is for kids ages kindergarten through sixth grade. A Chi Alpha group from South Texas District will be conducting the Crusade. All the kids in the area are encouraged to attend. Regular church services are Sunday morning, are at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. For more information, call Pastor Jon Watson a 1-409-658-0691.

Church of God hosts Destiny Conference

Soldotna Church of God on the corner of Binkley and Redoubt Ave. is hosting its annual Destiny Conference titled “I am a follower not a fan” starting Sunday through July 19, and July 21. A Destiny run will kick off  the conference on Saturday beginning at 6:30 at the church. Sunday services will be held at 9 and 11 a.m. with a Sunday evening service at 6 p.m.

During the week morning services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and evening services at 7:00 p.m. Guest speakers this year include Kevin Goff, Pastor of The Rock Church (Ariz.), Kent Redfearn, Pastor at Muldoon Community Assembly (Alaska), Mitch Maloney, Pastor at North Cleveland COG (Tenn.), Rick Benjamin, Chaplin for Hope Center (Alaska), and Stan Holder, Administrative Bishop AK/BC Church of God (Alaska). Frank Montgomery, Worship Pastor from Christian Faith Center, has traveled from Seattle to lead praise and worship during this year’s conference.

Destiny Kids VBS will be held for ages 4 years-6th grade Monday-Friday mornings at 10:30 and evenings at 7:00. Additional activities include a water baptism on July 21, a ladies luncheon, and a potluck.

Soldotna church cooks up free Mexican food

The Church of Christ in Soldotna invites everyone to join it for free tacos and burritos 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. Dessert will also be served. All who come are welcome to attend a Bible study following the meal at 7 p.m. The church is located at Mile 91.7 Sterling Highway. For more information or a ride, call 907-252-9931.

Kenai Methodists change worship time

The Kenai United Methodist Church will be holding their Sunday morning worship at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Janice Carlton is serving the Kenai church and the North Star United Methodist Church. North Star will worship at 9:30 a.m. The Kenai church is located on the Kenai Spur Highway next to the Boys and Girls Club. North Star is located at mile 25.5 of the Kenai Spur. All are invited to either worship service.

Clothes Quarters open weekly

Clothes Quarters at Our Lady of the Angels Church is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 283-4555.

Food pantry open at Soldotna church

The Soldotna United Methodist Church, at 158 South Binkley Street, offers a Food Pantry for residents in the community who are experiencing food shortages. The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 11a.m.-2 p.m. for anyone in the area who may need extra help. 

To support these efforts, the church is accepting non-perishable food donations, which may be dropped off at the church any Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. or Sunday from 9 a.m.-noon. To make monetary donations, mail a check to the address above designating it for the SUMC Food Pantry or drop it by.
