Lopez family welcomes daughter

Ernesto and Karli Lopez of Anchorage announce the birth of their daughter, Mia Trouble Lopez, at 4:23 a.m. on Feb. 19, 2013. She weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measured 21 1/5 inches. She joins a sibling, Corbin. Her grandparents are Eddie and Debbie Lopez of Rock Springs, Wyo.; Scott Kay of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Lisa Fletcher of Soldotna.

Eskelin earns master's degree

Leah Oriel Eskelin of Kenai was recently awarded a degree in Forestry and Agriculture, Master of Science, Resource Interpretation from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacodoches, Texas.

Koch Named to EOU Dean's List

Daniel Koch, of Kasilof, was among 586 students named to the dean’s list at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Ore., for the 2013 spring term. To qualify, students must achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term.

Events, wedding, engagement and birth submissions may not be older than six months. Wedding anniversary announcements are printed in five-year increments beginning with the 20th.

The Community page is a way to highlight activities and events that happen with a photo. If your group or organization has a photo of an event to share, submit the photo and the following information for print: Who took the photo, who’s in it, when and where it was taken, a brief description of what’s happening, and a name and phone number in case we have questions.
