Nikiski Campmeeting at Lighthouse Community Church

 

A free family camping and music event will take place at Lighthouse Community Church in Nikiski, Mile 25 of the Kenai Spur Highway. The Nikiski Campmeeting is August 2-4. Concerts include BLAACK Aug. 2 at 6 p.m., and Brandon Kagel of Phoenix Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. On the Aug. 3, Community Day starts at 11 a.m. with free food, backpacks, haircuts, health tests, inflatables, games, and lots of fun.

Vacation Bible School

Christ Lutheran Church will be hosting VBS July 29-Aug. 2, 9 a.m.-noon for children ages 3-11 years old. the theme this year is ATHEN’S.

There will be games, crafts, snack, music and celebration as we study Paul and all his dangerous journeys. Come join the fun! Christ Lutheran Church is located at 128 Soldotna Lane, Soldotna. For more information, call 907-262-4757

The Way Café serving dinner

The Way Café, located at the Merit Inn, 260 South Willow Street in Kenai, will continue serving free meals to youth 18 and under from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meals for adults are $3.

Clothes Quarter open weekly

Clothes Quarters at Our Lady of the Angels Church is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 283-4555.

Food pantry open at Soldotna church

The Soldotna United Methodist Church, at 158 South Binkley Street, offers a Food Pantry for residents in the community who are experiencing food shortages. The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 11a.m.-2 p.m. for anyone in the area who may need extra help. 

To support these efforts, the church is accepting non-perishable food donations, which may be dropped off at the church any Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. or Sunday from 9 a.m.-noon. To make monetary donations, mail a check to the address above designating it for the SUMC Food Pantry or drop it by.
