Catholic Churches plan open houses
Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Soldotna will hold two open houses to answer questions about the inquiry process that leads to reception into the Catholic Church. This process is called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA. On Aug. 28 and Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a gathering to explain the process and answer questions you may have about the Church. Catholic Churches to hold RCIA classes for Inquirers
Classes for anyone interested in the Catholic Church will be held each Wednesday evening at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Soldotna starting Sept. 25. The classes will be held in O’Neill Hall, 238 W. Redoubt Avenue at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday of the school year. During the year those attending will learn about the teachings of the Church based on the teachings of Jesus Christ to His disciples. Clothes 4 U program resumes
First Baptist Church Soldotna, located at 159 S. Binkley Street, is re-opening its Clothes 4 U program. Beginning Aug. 24, it will be open on the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. All clothing and shoes are free to the public.
Food Pantry open at Soldotna Church
The Soldotna United Methodist Church, at 158 South Binkley St., offers a Food Pantry for residents in the community who are experiencing food shortages. The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for anyone in the area who may need extra help.
To support those efforts, the church is accepting non-perishable food donations, which may be dropped off at the church any Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. or Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. To make monetary donations, mail a check to the address above designating it for the SUMC Food Pantry or drop it by. The Way Cafe serving dinner
The Way Cafe, is located at the Merit Inn, 260 South Willow St. in Kenai, will continue serving free meals to youth 18 and younger from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday to Friday. Meals for adults are $3.
