Augie and Sandi Lindow of Soldotna announce the birth of their daughter, Gemma Brielle Lindow, at 4:20 p.m. on March 14, 2014. She weighed 5 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 19 inches. Her grandparents are Joe and Kara Steele, and Erik and Rita Lindow.

Jeremy and Melody Puckett of Kasilof announce the birth of their daughter, Neva Dawn Puckett at 8:19 p.m. on March 11, 2014. She weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces. Her grandparents are Janis and Demie Byram of Soldotna, and Sandra and Rusty Puckett of Sterling. Her great-grandparents are Mary and Bill Lewis of Soldotna, Sonia Byram of Prescott, Ariz., and Catherine Puckett of Jasper, Ga.

Derek and Jenna Ratliff of Soldotna announce the birth of their daughter, Adalyn Faith Ratliff, at 8:15 a.m. Oct. 2, 2013. She weighed 7 pounds, 5.8 ounces and measured 21 inches. She joins siblings Lily and Jaxon. Her grandparents are Charles and Kristy Standridge of Kasilof, and Dale and Renee Ratliff of Havre, Mont.

Army Pvt. Jesse W. Cobb has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship qualification, bayonet combat, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, marches, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values.

Cobb is the former ward of John and Doreen Bittle, of Kenai. He is a 2013 graduate of Nikiski High School.

Pvt. Jared M. Penning of Kasilof graduated with honors from U.S. Army Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood., Mo., on Feb. 20, 2014.

Penning is now in California working on his college degree and will continue to pursue his career in the Army National Guard as an Army linguist.

Penning is the son of Beth Selby of Kasilof and Bill Penning of Kenai.
