Just Kidding 2015: Camps

Kenai Watershed Forum is happy to offer Fur, Fins, Feathers, Flowers, and Fun at Soldotna Creek Park. What better way for your child to spend a summer day than by exploring the banks of Soldotna Creek and searching for aquatic insects, flipping over logs in search of decomposition in action, or playing in a forest pretending to be a predator on the hunt? Each week long session will include games, crafts, lessons, songs, and most importantly lots and lots of fun! Participants will benefit from spending time outside with new friends exploring rivers and forests on the Kenai Peninsula. Alaska is full of all sorts of adventures. Come explore Fur, Fins, Feathers, Flowers, and Fun with new friends this summer, and experience Alaska in exciting and educational ways. More Camp Information: kenaiwatershed.org or Dan Pascucci at dan@kenaiwatershed.org.

The Path to Victory Soccer Camp for boys and girls will be held at Kenai Sports Complex this June 22-25. The camp, which is open to 3 year-olds through those entering the fourth grade this fall, will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day and will focus on learning and improving basic soccer skills, such as footwork, dribbling, passing and shooting. Grace Lutheran Church & School in Kenai is sponsoring the camp and Ryan Holper, the school principal, will be the head coach this year. Coach Holper has taught physical education to grades K-8 for more than a decade. He has coached middle school and elementary players for many years and coached at several Path to Victory Camps each summer in Alaska. Additional coaching help will be provided by four college students from Martin Luther College, our pastor and teacher training college in New Ulm, Minnesota. In addition to improving their soccer skills, players will also learn about sportsmanship and God’s love for them, as they participate in a short daily devotion during the water breaks. There will be a Parents Night and Ice Cream Social at Grace Lutheran Church on June 22 at 6:30 p.m. While we eat ice cream we’ll show a slide show of pictures taken at the camp. Afterwards, families are invited to stay to play on our new playground. All camp participants will receive a camp t-shirt and first time participants will receive a sports edition New Testament Bible.

The camp fee is $35 if paid by May31 (which increases to $50 if paid in June), and families can reserve a spot by registering and paying at www.GraceLutheranKenai.com/PTV. Space is limited to the first 100 paid registrations and will be received on a first paid first served basis.
