Vacation Bible School

* This summer Kenai Christian Church will be doing a Vacation Bible School from July 11- July 15, 6 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. This event is free and open to children from 2 years old to entering 6th grade.

* Big Apple Adventure Vacation Bible School for kids 4 years old to 6th grade, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. nightly from Monday, June 6 to Friday, June 10 at College Heights Baptist Church, 44440 Kalifornsky Beach Road in Soldotna. Pre-registration is available by calling the church office or you can register at the door. Grab a cab and get ready for fun around every corner in this year’s VBS! As kids explore the big city of New York, they will learn how to step out in faith and connect with Jesus. * Soldotna United Methodist Church at 158 S. Binkley will be hosting our Vacation Bible School with the theme: “Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus was a Kid.” Children ages 3 through youth age are invited to join us as we “travel” back in time and learn about Jesus’s childhood. We’ll learn form Jesus’s mom, Mary,  go to a marketplace, dress up like Jesus might have, sing songs, play games, eat food, and grow in our faith.

Parents of the VBS children are invited to stay during the VBS time and fellowship with other parents a we learn from the study “Boundaries in Parenting.” A nursery will be provided for those parents attending the program. For more questions, please call Kristen at 953-1979.

* Nikiski Church of Christ Vacation Bible School, June 13-15 from 5 to 8 p.m. with dinner 5 p.m. Classes for all ages!

Minor repair needs? Help is available

If you or someone you know needs something fixed around the house, there will be teams of missionaries who are willing to help out our community this summer. Please contact Kassy Bittle at First Baptist Church of Kenai, 283-7672 for more information.

Clothes Quarters open weekly

Clothes Quarters, at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 225 S. Spruce Street, Kenai, is open every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and he first Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 283-4555 for more information.

Clothes ministry ongoing

The Clothes 4 U Ministry offers free clothing to benefit the community. The ministry is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at First Baptist Church Soldotna Mission House at 119 Little Avenue in Soldotna. Clothes 4 U accepts clothing donations only. For more information, call 262-4304.

Bible study live or online

A King James Bible study group meets at 7 p.m. on Thursdays on East Echo Lake Road in Soldotna and also offers “live” teachings on Skype video. For more information, call 262-3507 or e-mail kingjamesbiblystudy@gmail.com.

Study, fellowship, worship opportunities

Saint Luke Lutheran Church offers several faith strengthening opportunities during the week. The parish’s Wednesday 10:30 a.m. fellowship/study is focusing on Numbers. The group attempts to cover one chapter a session and meets at 48095 Andrews Avenue for approximately one hour.

Wednesday evening activities take place at the Parish Hall, 43055 Kenai Spur Highway, and consist of a potluck fellowship, Vespers Service and detailed analysis of basic Christian doctrine, currently focusing on the relevance of ancient Christian doctrine for the 21st Century. The fellowship/potluck begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by Vespers at 6:30 p.m. and study from 7 to 8 p.m. The pastor also offers weekly homilies on the website in written and mp3 formats for those who cannot participate in any of the parish activities in person. Catholicism classes available

Classes for anyone interested in the Catholic Church will be held each Wednesday evening at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The classes are held in O’Neill Hall on Redoubt Avenue at 6:30 p.m. each week. Those attending will learn about the teaching of the Church based on the teachings of Jesus Christ to His disciples. This process is called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults or RCIA. Anyone interested in seeking this way of life may call the Rectory to sign up at 262-4725.
