'God and Country' rally scheduled
Happy Birthday America 2013 – “God and Country Rally” is scheduled for 6 p.m. on June 30. This year’s main speaker will be Lt. Ryan Krause. Ryan enlisted in the United States Navy at age 17 and served more than 16 years as a Hospital Corpsman, deploying during Operation Iraqi Freedom twice in 2003 and 2004. Before that he served in Somalia during Operation Restore Hope in 1992 and 1993. He has over a decade of service with Battlefield Ministries as a speaker and author. He re-enlisted in the Navy and is currently in Chaplaincy Candidate school.
This year, along with acknowledging service personnel, the event will highlight all First Responders remembering the heroes at the Boston Marathon and the explosion in West, Texas also the tornadoes in Oklahoma.

Music ministry to visit Kenai
An evening of praise and worship with Gospel singers Dave Anderson and Roger Walck is planned for 7 p.m. July 10 at Star of the North Lutheran Church, 216 N. Forest Drive in Kenai. The performance will include Gospel music, old-time Sunday school songs, contemporary Christian music and stories of God’s grace and mercy. For more information call 907-262-6121.
Vacation Bible Schools
■ Kenai Christian Church at 104 McKinley Street, Kenai will host a SonWest Roundup VBS, July 8-12, 5:30 – 8 p.m. for ages 2 years – 6th grade. Call 907-283-4559.
■ Ninilchik Community Vacation Bible School will be held at the Lindeman Ranch from July 7-11 (Sun-Thurs.) for ages 4 through 8th grade. Sunday: 12:30-4 p.m. Mon-Thurs: 9:30-12:30 p.m. Free. ■ The Kenai Fellowship will host a Hay Day Vacation Bible School for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. It kicks off June 26 with food and fellowship from 6:30-8 p.m. It continues June 27-28 from 9 a.m.-noon (8:30 a.m. drop-off available). It wraps up June 29 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. with a petting zoo, more VBS fun and a hot dog roast. The church is located at Mile 8.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway, between Swires Road and Highbush Road. ■ Soldotna Bible Chapel, at 300 W. Marydale, will be having Vacation Bible School starting this Monday, June 24-June 28, from 9 a.m.-noon. This will be for ages 4 years old to kids going into 6th grade. The theme this year is “Kingdom Chronicles” with castles and dragons! The children will enjoy songs, crafts, stories, food and fun! Clothes Quarters open weekly
Clothes Quarters at Our Lady of the Angels Church is open every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 283-4555.
Food pantry open at Soldotna church
The Soldotna United Methodist Church, at 158 South Binkley Street, offers a Food Pantry for residents in the community who are experiencing food shortages. The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 11a.m.-2 p.m. for anyone in the area who may need extra help.
To support these efforts, the church is accepting non-perishable food donations, which may be dropped off at the church any Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. or Sunday from 9 a.m.-noon. To make monetary donations, mail a check to the address above designating it for the SUMC Food Pantry or drop it by.
