Old cars. Antiques. Historical buildings. Restoration efforts are liberally and expensively applied to these and other projects.

A WWII aircraft lay frozen in the ice of Greenland after an emergency landing. Many decades later, recovery efforts were launched. Just retrieving it from beneath hundreds of feet of ice was a huge project. It was removed a piece at a time and reconstructed in near new condition. They named it "Glacier Girl" and the P38 fighter flew again.

It's easy to get "off mission" as Christians. The daily challenges of life, work and family all tend to pull us away from our intended purpose in life. We can often replace the mission with tasks that push us "off mission."

It's important to understand what "on mission" means. To get a clear picture of this command let's review what Jesus spoke in Acts 1:8 to the disciples (men who were mentored by Jesus during his ministry). Jesus states "...you will be my witness in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Duty called me from the couch where I was watching a college football game, one of my favorite pastimes. We were planning to leave on a trip to New York early the next week so our lawn had to be raked and mowed on Saturday, college football's game day.

One of the teams in the game I had started watching was a top contender for the national championship, increasing the temptation to leave the leaves to themselves. After all, this game might determine which team would ultimately be crowned number one.

Have you heard this before:  Say you’re sorry right now! Go apologize to your brother!  Say it like you mean it! I am not leaving until I hear an apology!  Why do I have to be the one to apologize? I am not saying sorry again! I will never forgive you!  Saying, “sorry” can be the beginning of the long road of forgiveness, but it is a journey that is worth it.
