Student Union launches Students for Safe Access campaign

Because of increased usage and safety concerns, administrators at KPC, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District and Alaska Christian College have come together  asking the state legislature to support and fund a capital construction project that would extend and light the paved path along Poppy Lane to the intersection of College Road. The current paved path ends in front of K-Beach Elementary. In addition, the Kenai Peninsula College Council has adopted a resolution in support of the project.

While it's the holidays, it's certainly no break

It's the last day of school before the holidays, and everyone's making plans to sleep in and do nothing all day every day. Most of us teenagers want to escape the busyness of school; however, it reveals itself to be an almost unattainable goal. I find myself equally as busy during the holidays as I am when school's going on, though it's a refreshingly different kind of busy.

SMS student receives scholarship to travel

One of Delaney Schneider's Christmas presents was a suitcase. The suitcase itself was not as significant as the contents inside.

It was Christmas Day when the Soldotna Middle School eighth-grader found out she was the recipient of a scholarship sweepstakes from the People to People Student Ambassador Program titled "50 for fifty", which awarded to one student from each state traveling with the program this summer. For Schneider, that means her three-week trip to Europe will be paid for, save for her own spending money while she's there.

Winter is here — might as well enjoy it
