KPC’s popular summer semester will be offering more than 70 courses in a variety of subjects. Registration opened at 12:01 a.m. today, for returning, admitted students. General public registration will be available starting March 4.

The schedule is available on the KPC website for planning. Seats in general requirement courses, as well as those required for popular programs such process and industrial instrumentation technology, computer electronics and nursing will fill quickly. Classes begin May 20.

February is Financial Aid Awareness month! Financial aid is available to students of all income levels that can be accessed through the completion of the 2013-14 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA, available online at the FAFSA website, is a valuable tool that all college students should take advantage of and students need to remember that they are required to re-apply every year.

The FAFSA is used by many financial aid sources to evaluate students’ economic status and their eligibility for specific types of aid. For more information, contact KPC’s financial aid office at 262-0332 or e-mail: cmburford@kpc.alaska.edu.

Join craft beer aficionados at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in room 109 at the Kenai River Campus for a book signing and presentation titled “American craft beer phenomenon and its impact on Alaska.”

Bill Howell, author of Beer on the Last Frontier: The Craft Breweries of Alaska and the 2010 Wynkoop Brewery Beerdrinker of the Year, will be providing the presentation. Howell will be available to answer questions and sign copies of his book after the lecture.

In an effort to provide an overview of what the college is all about, a comprehensive, evening event will be held from 4-7 p.m. on April 2. The event is designed to provide information to high school students and their parents, as well as current KPC students.

Being dubbed the “Advice and a Slice Open House,” there will be a majors fair component that will provide details about all degree and certificate programs available through UAA/KPC, along with free pizza and beverages. Faculty advisors and KPC counselors will be on hand to answer questions about the benefits of the various majors and advising tips on getting started in a specific program.

Many resources will be available providing a broad range of answers to frequently asked questions including those about financial aid processes and easy payment plans, health services available for students, tutoring and other KRC Learning Center services, career and community engagement services, library processes and the importance of counseling and advising to students’ success.

KPC’s associate director of residence life will provide information about the new KPC residence hall. Brochures about KPC’s new residence life program will be available as well as detailed application procedure requirements related to living in the new facility. The application period for living in hall for the upcoming fall semester opens April 15.
