Other than the sales staff neoprene fishing boots there is nothing fishy about Soldotna's Fish Connections, unless it's their rod & reel butane fire starters. But if you are looking for a unique holiday gift that you have never given before to that person who is always impossible to find anything for stop by the "Fish Connections" gift shop now located in the Peninsula Center Mall. Owner Debbie Wise moved her store to the Mall after the fire earlier this year in the Dairy Queen building where her gift shop was previously located. Wise is from Homer where they run fish charters as well as a gift shop and thus the name "Fish Connections." "We also own Alaska Fudge & Gifts which burnt down in June so we brought the gift store here to offer what we feel is a unique variety of Alaskan gifts and personalized prints that you can put your husband or wife's name on for his favorite football team. We have a fun line of pajamas, sweat and night shirts, some lovely jewelry, carved bowls, snoozies for those who get cold feet literally and shirts for those who want a Moosesage, you can find something here for all ages and all genders," explained Wise.
Michelle Loughead says the variety of gifts and broad selection makes the Fish Connections gift store a fun place to work and she is right at home in her neoprene boots. "Our star light decorations are great for homes or special event decorations year round and not just for the holidays. Our jewelry selection in really nice and we have some awesome knives. It's just a lot of fun working here and helping people find those special items that they didn't think they could find in the local area," she said.
Fish Connections is open in the Peninsula Center Mall Tuesday-Saturday 10:00am - 6:00pm. For more information call 262-7704.
