A yearling moose lazily greeted voters Tuesday morning at Soldotna City Hall as a new mayor was elected.

The voter turn out in Soldotna last week to elect a new Mayor wasn’t heavy enough to bother a sun bathing young moose from leaving his morning bed at City Hall. When the polls closed and the yearling went to browse Dr. Nels Anderson was the voter’s choice to finish the term of former Soldotna Mayor Peter Micciche who was elected last fall to the state senate.Dr. Anderson garnered 59.77 percent of the vote to former Borough Mayor David Carey’s 39.46 percent.
