Dave Keating as been a realtor on the Peninsula since 1970, in 1972 in founded Peninsula Realty and a few years later bought a Century 21 franchise and became Century 21 Peninsula Realty. In the mid-eighties Keating sold Century 21 Peninsula Realty and in 1986 joined Freedom Realty with Ron Moore and Sandy Tasler. Then in 1992 he bought Freedom Realty and has owned it until recently when he sold his interest to Century 21 North Homes Realty who will be operating on the Peninsula as Century 21 Freedom Realty according to an interview with Keating. “The name has changed, but the friendly faces and personal expertise of our 15 agents is the same,” he said, “It’s funny how things have come back around to Century 21, but looking at the advantages for the community and the clientele as well as my agents I could see that Century 21 offered a lot of great tools to be used by the agents to help the clients in selling or purchasing properties,” said Keating.
Thirteen years ago Dave’s daughter Kelly Griebel decided she would follow in her father’s footsteps and for several years has been Freedom Realty’s top producing and award winning agent. Kelly says she is excited about what Century 21 brings to the Peninsula, “It’s amazing and I really like the company’s ethics that is very important to me, plus adding an additional 800 websites for our clients is a great advantage. Folks locally knew that we were the top agency on the Peninsula but people looking from outside might not necessarily recognize Freedom Realty but now that we are Century 21 they will recognize that name and reputation and bring much more attention to the market,” said Griebel.
In a news release Century 21 North Homes Realty Co-Owner Michael Droege said operating as Century 21 Freedom Realty will offer homebuyers and sellers an increased level of service and convenience in their real estate transaction needs, “We are excited to extend its presence to Soldotna and Kenai areas. We have the largest web traffic of any real estate franchise in the nation. Internet and Social marketing has become a critical component to selling homes, land and commercial properties,” says Droege. Also joining Century 21 Freedom Realty as Broker is Anna Johns who formerly owned and operated Preferred Realty. “Her addition to our team is a vital component in our expansion, she has demonstrated her leadership skills running her own company and serving as President of the Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors twice and being honored as Realtor of the Year in 2008,” said Droege. Johns is a lifelong Alaskan with deep roots in the community, her family homesteaded on the Peninsula and Anna and her husband raised four children in Nikiski and has four grandchildren as well. Anna will be assisted by Fred Braun, who remains as Associate Broker in charge of Century 21 Freedom Realty in Kenai and Dave Keating will remain Associate Broker in Soldotna.
