Cabin Fever Creations: where you are the creator

If you’ve been out and about looking for the Radio Shack in Soldotna and seen the Cabin Fever Creations signs you may have wondered just who or what is creating cabin fever. Unless you know the Two Tammy’s of course, co-owners of the new Cabin Fever Creations, then you know exactly what’s going on inside and have become a frequent Cabin Fever creator. Tammy Groshart and Tammy Bunn have known each other for many years and after hearing Tammy’s ideas for a new business Tammy said, “Sure! Great! Let’s do it, the next day we wrote our resignations and signed the lease for our new enterprise,” she said. “We use to have a shop out in Sterling over 20 years ago called Pass Time Creations at my Mom’s, Tammy and I brought it back to the community in Soldotna now and all our former customers are very happy about all the new things we have to offer here at Cabin Fever,” said Tammy.

“We have native clay that is harvested here in Cooper Landing and we make it here, ourselves. We also have ash-ware. This is ceramics that are made with volcanic ash from Redoubt and Spur volcano eruptions. Our party room is for rent for Birthday parties, wedding and baby showers as well as any other events people may have going on and the real fun feature is that your guests create their own party favors and gifts. We supply everything you need and your party has all the fun with no mess for you to clean up afterwards,” said Tammy. If you’re not looking to create your own gift or souvenir Cabin Fever Creations features a wide variety of local crafts and gifts made by local artisans and craftsmen, “We have a lot of local artist, Alaskan gifts and Alaskan souvenirs, including jewelry! Come in and get a gift to send to the lower 48, or to take home from your Alaskan vacation. Get something fun and unique, not found anywhere else on the peninsula!” added Tammy. And if you have never created anything Cabin Fever Creations is still the place for you because they will teach you how, “We have crochet classes available every Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00pm and open sewing on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00pm when you can bring your machine and we can help you out if needed and the class is only $10.00,” she said.

While the name Cabin Fever may imply the long dark, cold, Alaskan winter times, Tammy says they are very busy with visitors and tourists who want a unique Alaskan souvenir or something they can do while the hubby our spouse is fighting mosquitoes and fishing in the great land of the midnight sun, “We have a nice selection of fish platters, bears, moose and a lot of native Alaskan art for visitors to take home. You can paint a platter to look just the fish you caught and have a memory to keep forever,” said Tammy.
