The “1st Thursday” of September saw “Wild Angels” hovering at C-Cups in Already Read Books in Kenai. The purpose was to promote the new Wild Angels Calendar for 2014, a project by Jasmine Lamb of Picturesque Photography to raise between $7,000 and $14,000 for breast cancer detection in Alaska. “I had a dream and I built it!” Lamb told the Dispatch at the calendar signing. “I used social media and friends to find all local models and the response was more than anticipated with enough models coming forward to allow us to produce a 14 month calendar. We plan to help support the Breast Cancer Detection Center (BCDC) of Alaska’s mission by donating all profits from the sale of our calendar to their non-profit organization. BCDC brings comfortable mammograms and education to underserved populations of Alaska,” she said.
According to Lamb the focus of BCDC is to increase awareness of the survivability of breast cancer and the benefits of early detection by delivering screening services and educational programs through out the State of Alaska. If the calendar does well Jasmine hopes to produce a sequel next year perhaps with precious little angels, photos of toddlers, “Or maybe Hip Boot Hotties!” she laughs. Focusing mainly on commercial photography at her studio Lamb went professional in 2008. She is planning other calendar signing events with her Wild Angels with the next coming up at AK-49 Clothing next month. You can get details of coming events or purchase a Wild Angels 2014 Calendar by going to http://jahsmnelambco.com. Lamb says the 1st Thursday event at C-Cups raised over $600 for the BCDC and is looking for sales to go through the roof as the holidays draw nearer.
