Pour House re-opens & Hooligan's gets a make over

Posted: October 28, 2013 - 12:13pm  |  Updated: October 31, 2013 - 10:32am

An attribute of the Alaskan spirit is taking hard times and making them into glad times, loss into gain and tragedy into opportunity. Such is the re-opening of the popular Pour House family restaurant that was destroyed by fire earlier this year. The Pour House became known for their deep fried hamburgers and other unique menu items created by entrepreneur Molly Blakeley-Poland, owner of Hooligan’s Lodge in Soldotna. After an extensive re-model the Pour House is now open inside of Hooligan’s, “It’s been fun, “It’s been fun to do, stressful times too, but we’ve made it through are back on our feet and I’m really proud of how it has turned out,” the unsinkable Molly Poland told the Dispatch. “The deep fried burgers, wings and pulled pork sliders are back baby and you can even get them baked in a pizza dough so they are like a burger calzone and we are delivering now and doing new things and specials everyday. It’s a complete separate restaurant, totally family friendly and you can’t even see the bar from the Pour House. Kids can still draw on the tables but we have new huge screen TV and leather recliners where you can get the chill out or just chill out in front of the new fire place. Our new Chef just moved here and he is phenomenal, Chef Don! I call him the soup supper star because he is the best soup maker I have ever had, his is simply the best and I challenge anyone to serve up a better bowl of soup than we have at the new Pour House,” she said.

The bar at Hooligan’s has also had an extensive make-over, “It’s much higher end and classy with chandeliers and overstuffed chairs and is really beautiful in here I love it and am proud at how it all works together. We’ve renamed the bar ‘Copper Tops’ because all our bars are made out of copper, so it is now Hooligan’s Lodge with the Pour House family restaurant and Copper Top bar, so we are all inclusive you can come and stay here, eat here, drink here, sing karaoke here and go back and rest in your room. Everything is nice and new and we will start bringing in national bands next week and are working hard to offer the best possible to our great community,” said Molly, whose 6-year-old son Luke recommends his favorite the cheese burger-slider. “The Cooper Top even features a Blood Mary cocktail that comes with a mini-cheese burger slider attached, so come on in and join the fun” said Molly. Hooligan’s Lodge is located just before the bridge in Soldotna, for delivery from the Pour House call 262-9951.
